Dee Daa brings a taste of Thai to Midtown East
February 15, 2011 – Dee Daa brings New York its first fast/casual Thai restaurant that offers quick and balanced meals with authentic flavors prepared for today’s modern customers. True to its name, which was inspired by the Thai phrase meaning “joyfully or exuberantly,” Dee Daa provides efficient and welcoming service coupled with a selection of classic Thai dishes, snacks, sweets and more. The menu at Dee Daa features curries, noodles, infused rice and stir fries. Each main dish is paired with a recommended soup, salad or side that can be matched or purchased separately. Complete meals, or “bundles,” provide the ideal balance of the four flavors: sweet, spicy, salty and sour. While waiting for their bundles, guests can explore an iced tea station, which will feature a rotating selection of authentic teas including Rosella, Lemongrass, Bael and Thai Iced Tea. Each tea boasts unique benefits that will refresh, revive, or relax with each sip.
Says CEO Mallika Sukjaroenkaisri, “Getting a new quick service restaurant off the ground was extremely complex, but Canvas was by my side every step of the way. They played an instrumental role in helping me to bring authentic Thai food to the New York market in a fun and interesting way. Their strategic and creative talents helped tie the entire concept and brand together.”

Johnson Controls wins EU approval to buy maker of automotive textiles
November 23, 2010 – Johnson Controls Inc. has won approval to buy Michel Thierry, a French supplier of fabrics and lamination that is expected to boost its position as an automotive textile manufacturer and supplier.
Johnson Controls, the Milwaukee maker of auto batteries and interiors, said the acquisition also improves its position in the Chinese and North American markets.
“This acquisition required careful evaluation of the role of both brands from many perspectives — cooperation with new, different customer audiences, consideration of future competitive bidding, and retention of internal talent. Canvas brought in a strong understanding of both the branding and the business aspects of the work and helped us design and evaluate all relevant options. They made our decision-making easier and I am very happy with their work,” says Claudia Lademann-Fleger, VP Communications Automotive Experience.

Blonde Media becomes Blonde+Co
November 15, 2010 – To better reflect the strategic focus of the company, Blonde Media has changed its name to Blonde+Co. This name change followed repositioning efforts led by Canvas Brand Advisors to broaden perceptions of the firm’s capabilities while refocusing on the beauty field to best leverage Blonde’s deep industry expertise. The positioning and name are reflected in Blonde+Co’s new identity and visual system design.
“Being a small business, I was tentative about engaging the services of a brand consulting agency,” says Blonde+Co President and Founder Julie Stahl. “I wondered whether the investment would have value to us as most of our clients are recommended by word-of-mouth. Any concerns I had were gone from the moment Canvas began their branding make-over... Thorough and approachable, the Canvas team worked well with our staff and understood even their unspoken messages. They nailed our communication weaknesses and steered us without any pain into a new way of thinking about ourselves and, more importantly, presenting ourselves!”
